SUMMARY:Freedom from modern slavery of the fashion industry: The Conscience of Clothing movie
DESCRIPTION:Freedom from modern slavery of the fashion industry: The Conscience of Clothing movie …\nWelcome to “Freedom from modern slavery of the fashion industry: The Conscience of Clothing movie screening” and subsequent discussion with Patrick Kohl\, Willy Iffland and Karoline Hestnes.\nThe event is organized by interart_s in collaboration with Ingensteds and it is part of Klimafestivalen § 112 .\nDoors open: 18.00\nScreening starts: 18.30\n_______________\nABOUT THE FILM (107 min):\nPatrick Kohl\, the director\, calls his documentary “a journey\, a process and a mission”. The multiple award-winning movie is an authentic snapshot of an industry that accounts for the livelihood and everyday reality of roughly a fifth of Cambodia’s population.\n“The omnipresence of cheap clothing made us forget about the human and ecological resources it takes to produce garments. Over the last decades\, the fashion industry has woven a net of global supply chains\, which make it very difficult for consumers to trace the production of their clothes. The constant shift of production sites to countries with cheaper production costs has perpetuated social inequalities between those who produce and those who consume clothes” — says the young director and adds: “What happens if you merge these worlds and send two German social media influencers out to meet stakeholders in Cambodia in order to find out what it means to make clothing?”\nIn October 2020 “The Conscience of Clothing” won Los Angeles Films Awards and Chicago Films Awards in the category of “Best Documentary Feature”.\nWatch trailer: https://youtu.be/qf-Cn0FhZBk\n_______________\nPANEL DISCUSSION\nThe screening is followed by a panel discussion about human rights\, child labor and working conditions in the garment industry. During the debate we would like to ask our guests about their personal reflections on the trip to Cambodia and how it influenced their life and work. We will touch on the topic of fast fashion and look at what it really signifies. At the same time we will try to find sustainable solutions we can introduce to our daily choices and prove that thanks to collective actions we can change things for the better. The discussion and Q&A will be led by Agata Dulawa.\n_______________\nABOUT THE GUESTS\nPatrick Kohl – an award winning Berlin-based storyteller and independent film director. He specializes in cinematic portraits and capturing human life stories in cultural documentaries focused on creating impact for a better tomorrow.\nWilly Iffland – a fashion influencer\, one of the main characters in “The Conscience of Clothing” movie\nKaroline Hestnes – a country coordinator of Fashion Revolution Norway\, creative leader and coordinator of Fashion For Ocean and founder/designer of A/BARENESS — slow fashion brand based in Nepal and Norway.\nMore info: www.interarts.no\nYou’re welcome to stay for a drink after the screening and the Q&A until 11pm.\n_________\nPlace: Ingensteds\, Oslo\nDate: 28th of January 2022\nTime: Open doors at 18:00\, Screening at 18:30\nTicket price: Students 100 NOK\, ordinary: 150 NOK (+ ticket fee)\nhttps://ingensteds.ticketco.events/no/nb/e/freedom_from_modern_slavery_of_the_fashion_industry_the_conscience_of_clothing_movie_screening
